in guangzhou, the contriving place of china’s modern revolution, many revolutionaries died and bled and created lots of great heroic achievements. there are many sites and traces left by them when they did the revolutionary activities.

the site of the third national congress of cpc, located on 3#, xuguyuan road, dongshan district, guangzhou city, is one of the historical monuments & cultural relics under guangdong provincial protection.

from june 12th to 20th 1923, the third national congress of cpc was held in guangzhou. more than 30 representatives, representing 400 party members, were present. the representatives of guangdong cpc organization, tan pingshan, ma jupo, ruan xiaoxian, liursong attended the congress.

the congress correctly estimated sun yat-sen’s democracy standpoint of anti-imperialistic and anti-feudalistic warlords and the possibility of transforming kmt into a revolutionary alliance of the labor, the bourgeoisie and the national bourgeoisie. the congress discussed and decided that, in order to transform kmt into a democratic revolutionary alliance, cpc would re-cooperate with kmt, that party members of cpc could join kmt in their own name, and that cpc must maintain its political and organic independence in doing so.

the congress also put forward the theory of revolutionary united front, which made necessary preparations for the establishment of the first kmt-cpc cooperation.
